TREND ALERT: Goodbye plunging necklines. Welcome Ghagra pants + boat necks

Grand opening show of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013 (Aug 22, 2013)

There's always a sense of anticipation about what Mumbai-based designer Manish Malhotra will bring on the fashion ramp. And so, he does it yet again - creates trends that are society-conscious and accepted by all age groups. He presented the grand opening show to kick-start Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Mumbai. It was a great start, must say (of course, there were Bollywood faces in the front Row).

To the fore are Ghagra pants (a fusion look of sharara + classic pants) and boatnecks with 3/4 sleeved blouses. Apt for the festive season, a slightly dress-down look can fit your silhouette to the workplace, too.

For men, who don't know whether dhoti can be complemented with a shervani and formal shoes, here's a cue:

MEN TAKE NOTE: Formal shoes go well with dhoti and band gala or salwar + sherwani. Yes, it's got be of a good fit (don't borrow your brother's clothes this season)

TREND ALERT:
GHAGRA PANTS – a fusion of the Sharara and classic pant, which will give some strong alternatives to lehengas.
KOTI aka desi bolero: Koti (bolero) top reinvented from the Rajasthan Koti, which can be teamed with saris or ghagras.

NIMI SAYS: While I feel the new trends will look way better on tall people then a birdie reminded me - have you heard of heels, baby. Sport them. And I'm quite sure these trendy looks in pure cotton will rock the show for Mumbaiites in sultry weather, too.

SOME GUESTS IN F-ROW:

Filmmaker Ayan Mukherjee, Karisma Kapoor and designer Manish Malhotra
