The Bollywood spectacle at Cannes 2013
66th Cannes Film Festival - Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya
Balan, Sonam, Freida
CANNES 2013 RED CARPET: Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Frieda Pinto
It's amazing to see how fresh, new Indian faces are being invited to the Cannes Film Festival in the French Riviera year-after-year. This time around, it was actress Vidya Balan. Armed with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's designs and stylist Jayati Bose by her side, Vidya made her maiden foray on the red carpet.
VIDYA'S CLOTHING (6/10): It's nice to go au Indian on the red carpet. Good colour combinations and intricate embroidery on the panels. But Sabyasachi needs to re-think why so many differently coloured necklaces are being thrown around her neck. Her ghagra has such a big border (that makes a person look shorter) and then the tight neckline right up to the chin on every occasion?
The hairstyle needs a desperate measure of at least a change. Why is the flattened, mid-parting look so plastered to complement every outfit. What's Vidya's hairstylist doing? Or is she absent?
SONAM'S LOOK (8.5/10) : The nose ring or nathni by Sonam Kapoor's mom Sunita K is brilliantly adding that glam factor to a fusion Indian look. While, the choice of lipstick colour is too mature for Sonam, I really like the hairstyle, clothes - the works. Designer Anamika Khanna's saree with a train and embroidered shoulder patches is nice and this tall lady carries it off beautifully.
AMITABH BACHCHAN'S CHARISMA (7/10): The angry man from India is a sweetheart around the globe. So, whatever he wears, be it a bit flashy, it's good because he likes it. And we like, whatever he likes.
FRIEDA PINTO'S BUBBLEGUM PINK DRESS (8/10): I really liked the choice of the soft bubblegum pink colour of Frieda's gown. She's also spearheading girl child's education in developing countries. So, with that intent, she's doing really good as an Indian.
Girl with the Blue Scarf says: Big B, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Frieda Pinto are all here for you to review their style quotient.

Comments
Vidya was very awkward in her outfit and fumbled to find her hand when she was on stage, ready to do the Indian number aka Namaste.
Mr. Bachchan - i love him till the sky and back, but i so wish it wasnt 'bling' it on
Freida looked international, atleast she doesnt aspire to catch up to the drama of being Indian.
Looks like the nose ring is back in fashion. Thanks to Sonam Kapoor and Vidya Balan. Lte's see how soon will pretty young girls take to this trend on the streets of India.
