How to Protect Yourself from your Computer by Marc Anthony Arena

Protecting yourself from computer online fraud is possible: Marc Anthony Arena

US-based author Marc Anthony Arena opens his heart about his latest book titled 'How to protect yourself from your computerhttps://www.amazon.com/How-Protect-Yourself-Your-Computer/dp/0692815465/ available now on Amazon. Take a look at what handy tips he wishes to offer with a short Q & A session...

1. Who is Marc Anthony. What do you wish to achieve as an author?

Marc: My full name is Marc-Anthony Arena, and I have done in-home tech support for senior citizens for the past ten years.

One day in 2009, I was working on my dad's cousin's sister's best friend's computer, and my girlfriend at the time said, "Hey, you're good at explaining this stuff to people. Why don't you do this for a living?" And I said "I don't want to do this the rest of my life! I want to do something cutting-edge!" And she said, "While you're broke, you might as well!" So that's how it started and I've been here ever since.

What I realized is that even though it's not cutting-edge, there is a massive opportunity in my field, because nobody is out there protecting senior citizens. Local computer stores charge massive amounts of money for antiquated virus scans which cannot protect people from the new threats that are out there.

Over the past decade I've developed and written down all my unique methods, and I'm starting to license technicians with this modern knowledge. We can protect people from the Four New Threats, and we're the only method that can correct home WiFi issues properly.

As far as Covid, yes more people are going to be working from home, and as such, it'll be revealed that a lot of people are infected with something called a Combo Box. Instead of a proper router and a proper modem, your Internet company will sometimes provide you with a Combo Box, a single box that cuts your wifi signal by 90%. It only works within 10 feet/ 3 meters, so it's useless. Most people's "computer geniuses" slap on a wireless repeater, thinking that will solve the problem, but it does not remove the fundamental problem. Instead, we rip out the Combo Box and put in a real router and real modem, and this removes almost all WiFi issues. No repeaters are necessary at that point unless the house is a huge palace.

Finally, I think Covid will be a trial for people. You'll either choose to live in fear the rest of your life, or you'll realize that you're stronger than you think. Steve Jobs once said that we're all naked at all times. We're all vulnerable and naked. Don't let that stop you from doing what you were put on Earth to do.

2. Tell us about the Publisher and your book title. Is it available online on Amazon?

Marc: The publisher, IngramSpark, has made my book available in any bookstore in the world, including of course Amazon. I wrote the book as a timeless guide: First we explain the fundamentals of technology in Plain English, for the 99% of us who are intelligent successful people who are intimidated by technology.

We expose the fact that traditional viruses have not happened since around 2011, and instead there are deeper threats out there that your virus scanner cannot touch. We call these The Four New Threats:

A: Fully legalized viruses, in the form of Toolbars that hijack your web searches, Fake Cleaners that make you think they're cleaning your computer but instead destroy it, and printer spyware, mainly from HP, which report what you print back to their home office.

B: Update Attacks, which come from the creator (such as Microsoft or Apple) and claim to help you, but instead slow down your product or completely destroy it.

C: Cryptolocker/Hostageware, a scam that breaks into any Microsoft machine like a hot knife through butter and scrambles all your documents. Tons of companies and governments around the world are falling victim to this, because they are unaware of our backup method, which protects you from that.

D: Support Scams. This is where you see a scary message on your screen or receive a phone call that tries to scare you. They say you have cookies and trojans and errors and North Koreans are putting cookies up your firewall, and then they ask you for massive amounts of money. This is purely an emotional scam, so no virus scanner in the world can ever help!

Later, we discuss online scams and how to sniff them out, and finally, we expose scandals that Big Tech is doing to us. One example is the 365 Scandal, where we used to pay one time for Microsoft Office, but now they make us think we have to pay $70/year for the rest of our life! Imagine buying a hammer or a toilet and them saying you now have to pay them $10 or $50 per year for the rest of your life, for the privilege of using it!

3. What do you wish to achieve with your work? Is there a positive change that you desire to usher into this world. Your book being a starting point?

Marc: My goal is to inform and empower people. To remind them that they shouldn't feel stupid, because in reality the IT industry changes every two weeks, and is run by a bunch of control freaks with attention-deficit disorder. To inform them that their computer guy has outdated training. To remind them that if someone calls saying "you've been hacked!" and then asks for thousands of dollars, that it's a scam and you should ignore them. Finally, to make them aware of how Big Tech is the new bad guy, that spies on us and milks us for money, fully legally. Hopefully people realize that they can buy a machine once, and as long as they don't download anything claiming to clean their machine, and deny all updates, they'll be able to enjoy it for 10 years.

4. How has your journey as an author been? Tell us if it was frustrating or inspiring in any way?

Marc: I started writing this book because I felt so frustrated with my industry, and knew that if people knew what was being done to them, they'd be furious. If you have some sort of important message, absolutely write a book, no matter how short. Have your friends, relatives, and mentors critique it, and then self-publish it. If it is truly good, it will catch on. And be patient - any good book takes many years to catch on.

5. Do you believe in the power of the written word? Can it change the world?
Marc: Remember, words are powerful. With them, you can control people or you can liberate them. If you're interested in following me, my corporate social media is fb.com/teknosophy, but I also have a monthly talk show heard on AM/FM/streaming/podcast, and a bonus podcast as well, all available at my site, thecomputerexorcist.com . We'll talk about the latest scandals that Big Tech is trying to force-feed us!
