ILLUSION AT LAKME FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT GRAND FINALE 2014
A child-like
fantasy world of big frangipani tree rising skywards and a maze of mirrors with candles creating a metallic illusion. We just didn't know from where the models walked in. It was an amazing grand finale.

While, I really liked the designer Rajesh Pratap Singh's signature style of keeping his fabrics simple and cuts wearable, I did find metallic hues as not too suitable in a Summer/Resort line. Now, it's simple, not many of us would wear Black in summers
. Not in India for sure!

SHOWSTOPPER or AN ILLUSION: Kareena Kapoor showstopped for Rajesh Pratap Singh at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 Grand Finale on March 16, 2014 in the open laws of Grand Hyatt, SantaCruz, Mumbai.
Inspired by ‘Illusions’ –
Lakmé’s statement for the season, the finale was a beautiful interplay of
light on colour and was a true depiction of Rajesh’s signature style.
Complementing the outfits, the makeup was conceptualized with the new Lakmé
Absolute Illusion range, comprising of eight metallic shimmer eye shadows monos
and four limited edition nail colors.

SEEMS NICE BUT REMINDS OF...
On Day 1,
Designer Pranav Mishra had gorgeous models sashaying down the runway in comfortable footwear coupled with lovely sporty outfits. A
saree with number 8 on its pallu worn by model
Candice Pinto was what everyone raved about. Candice wore the saree with open sneaker finish footwear. But the entire feel of
Sporty meets Elegance reminded me of
Designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil's Adidas LFW show of March 2010, where
Deepika Padukone showstopped amidst New York ramp roads and yellow and black taxis. In fact, even
Manish Malhotra presented the
Kolkata Knight Riders IPL-inspired show in LFW where
Shah Rukh Khan himself was the showstopper in March 2009. SRK sported a designer sling in black and gold and that image remains stuck over years with fashionistas. All this happened right here at LFW in Mumbai. An old eye can watch and tell for sure.

On Day 2,
Jade by Monica and Karishma had some pretty ensembles with embroidery work done on indo western chic outfits. Till one model sporting an ankle length tunic in
blush pink made its way with Kashmiri embroidery on the ramp. It reminded us of
Manish Malhotra's ankle-length tunic in blush pink with similar work showcased just two nights ago on March 11, 2014.
