Manish Malhotra out, James Ferreira in



Bollywood stylist and leading designer Manish Malhotra will not showcase at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2012 on March 2, 2012. Instead James Ferriera will. The organisers of Lakme Fashion Week were in for a shock when designer Manish Malhotra cited date issues due to extreme work load in films and dropped out of showcasing at the LFW, in the prime slot of 9.30 pm on Day 1(March 2).
Instead of Manish, veteran designer James Ferriera will return to his Mumbai roots after 6 long years and showcase in that slot now.

Incidentally, the off-site show (Rohit Bal has done an off-site show last season) plan, which was to take place on March 1 and then followed by a 'By-invitation-only' party for fashionistas, models and designers did not take off. This time, only the party is happening and that has left some stylistas thinking 'What's up'? Now, the news of Manish pulling out also has turned out to be a dampener of sorts but James has filled in. Waiting for some young, fresh talent to garner headlines this time.

Allah tero naam. Ishwar tero naam at Jodhpur RIFF changed my perspective.... Indian Carnatic music maestro TM Krishna collaborates with transwomen singers at the Jodhpur RIFF 2017 This was my very first visit to Jodhpur and I coincided it with an attempt to catch the Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF) whose chief patron is Marwar's royalty Gaj Singh II. One of the renditions by Carnatic music maestro TM Krishna (TMK - as he is lovingly called) changed my life's perspective so much so that this feeling is here to stay and share. TMK sang a very popular song called 'Allah Tero Naam. Ishwar Tero Naam...' with a 'specific reason' as he perched effortlessly at the break of dawn at  Jaswant Thada near Mehrangarh Fort.
