SOMEONE GUARD US FROM BODYGUARD (film)

Film: Bodyguard (**)
Director: Siddique
Stars: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Raj Babbar and one promotional song by Katrina Kaif
Review: My hunt for director Siddique is still on. I'd like to express my apologies toward his lack on imagination. And also such brutal use of a fabulous starcast of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor on a weak script like this.

HYPE: The hype for Salman's Bodyguard was gripping in the days that followed Eid (31st Aug). And cinema halls across India went house full, clearly out of curiosity to see how Salman 'Bhai' would entertain us as a bodyguard with rippling muscles and eight pack abs.
The film opens with Katrina Kaif, looking absolutely hot in a black number. And as the storyline progresses, Salman (Lovely Singh) was chosen as the bodyguard for Kareena (Divya) as there was threat to her life from gaon ka goondas. Kareena's dad Sartaj (played by Raj Babbar) was a surprise element as he looked quite young to play the dad of a 22 year old Divya.
When Divya saw Lovely Singh risk his life for her at a nightclub, she fell for him and in between also fell prey to her own prank of making anonymous love confession calls to Lovely Singh from a girl called Chaya. Chaya and Divya are two faces of the same girl. As Lovely Singh falls further and further in love, Divya is unable to control her emotions.
But as word leaks out mysteriously from maid servants to Divya's parents, the game plot falls apart. Divya pushes her best friend (played by Hazel Keech) to act as Chaya and save Lovely Singh.

THE BORING TWIST: Incidentally, the best friend and bodyguard get married, have a son but as luck would have it, best friend dies and Divya waits for her knight in shining armour to return. Her father understands the 'hidden' plot in his daughter's mind and ask Salman to accept his daughter three-four years after the fiasco had ended. (And we thought the torture had ended). Of course, after some dramatic scenes, Salman and Kareena get together (baby already in place from nakli Chaya).

Girl with the blue scarf says: All's well that ends well. Boy, were we glad that the film got over.
