Get festive at workplace

Drop that corporate look and add a bit of festivity in your workplace ensemble.

What's Diwali without its share of colours. If you are going to be working all of this Diwali week, then there's enough reason why you should dress according to the occasion. Sure, none of us like to go overboard with our dress sense at workplace. Most would like to keep it simple yet festive. Designers in Mumbai come to the rescue with some handy tips.

1. Accessorise: Designer Maheka Mirpuri suggests one opts for accessories to revamp the regular office look. "Try neck pieces, brooch or even cuff links in semi-precious stones or silver. Accessorisation always almost catches attention."
With office wear, a choker can be worn with a shirt where the neck is partially exposed. Earrings such as hoops or chunky jhumkas in kundan can add colour. Hair accessories are equally in, try that. Nice belts which have a chunky feel, can add to the long shirt or tunic.

2. Try some make-up: We often do nto bother much about applying concealer and blush-on to work. But apart from kohl-lined eyes and lipstick, try some mascara, add a bit of blush on your cheekbones and see the result it brings about. Make-up expert Vimi Joshi says, "Apply generous amounts of 'fix' all over your body to create instant hydration feel. Try the luxurious sun kissed glow. Or fill in your lips with lip pencil and apply gloss on top for a bright lips. This works."

3. Add some bling to your clothes: Move away from blacks and whites. There's so much experimentation that we can do with hues. Indian skintone is blessed to carry off any hue. In fact, "during Diwali, colours such as peacock blue, mehndi green, coral reds and even gold and silver shimmer are really hot," cued Rocky S.

4. Wear traditional wear: Vikram Phadnis believes in playing up Indianness and what better a time than a festival. He says, "Even if you are going to work, you could still be dressed to kill. Try traditional wear such as kurtas for men and churidaar kurta for women. There's sheer churidaar which looks really pretty. Try net chunnis or anarkali look.

5. Men can wear a short kurta: Kunal Rawal suggests men try boots with jodhpuris. "Play up the macho look by going for something Indian, like a kurta and may be jootis. A stole can look fabulous if teamed correctly with office wear."
