DESIGNER SHAADI LOOK - The bride and groom look great at Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2013

Image
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND : Times change but bridal fashion remains more or else the same in India. The biggest money-making time for designers is the unarguably the heavy-duty wedding season. And so, at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2013 held in New Delhi by Vijay K Singh , bridal looks were gorgeous. Here's a glimpse ... Designer Jyotsna Tiwari is a relative newcomer in front of the biggies who are showcasing at the AVIBW in New Delhi. Her embroidery skills stood out as actress Jacqueline Fernandes (with fresh lip job done) walked in a rani pink corset+lehenga look. SCORE: 8/10 Jaipur's celebrated royal designer Raghavendra Rathore never fails to makes an impact rather elegantly at that. His showstopper Anil Kapoor looked every bit a dapper Indian celebrity. SCORE: 9/10 Mumbai's designer couple Falguni and Shane Peacock (with a blue-tinged goatie) who are a known name with international celebrities do keep in touch with Indian fashion...

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's trendsetting looks in Cannes 2013

Image
Look at Me - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan LIKE QUEEN ELIZABETH (6.5/10): Aishwarya sports a Sabyasachi Mukherjee saree with an embroidered golden hairband. I am not impressed at all with the Queen Elizabeth look in an Indian version.   BLUE GIRL (8/10): Aishwarya in a teal Gucci gown, raised bouffant hairdo and pretty pink lip colour. ABU-SANDEEP GIRL (8.5/10): Here's an elegant outfit with Indian embroidery rich with western style gown by designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. Really nice, suits her persona and her age. MOMMA CALL : Aishwarya with just-woken-up Aaradhya at Cannes 2013. Mom-baby are inseparable... CORPORATE LOOK (9/10): At the Press Call, Aishwarya dons an official look with a crisp white shirt and black skirt with a trailing extension. Makes her look so slim and smart. Most Indian girls are going to try this trick now! ELIE SAAB GIRL. (7/10): Nice look but adds the bulk in the wrong places and adds l...

The Bollywood spectacle at Cannes 2013

66th Cannes Film Festival - Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Sonam, Freida CANNES 2013 RED CARPET: Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Frieda Pinto It's amazing to see how fresh, new Indian faces are being invited to the Cannes Film Festival in the French Riviera year-after-year. This time around, it was actress Vidya Balan . Armed with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's designs and stylist Jayati Bose by her side, Vidya made her maiden foray on the red carpet. VIDYA'S CLOTHING (6/10) : It's nice to go au Indian on the red carpet. Good colour combinations and intricate embroidery on the panels. But Sabyasachi needs to re-think why so many differently coloured necklaces are being thrown around her neck. Her ghagra has such a big border (that makes a person look shorter) and then the tight neckline right up to the chin on every occasion? The hairstyle needs a desperate measure of at least a change. Why is the flattened, mid-parting look s...

Bollywood stars rock TOIFA (Times of India Film Awards) in Vancouver

Image
(HELLO INDIA: Nimisha Tiwari interviews Premier of British Columbia, Christy Clark) BOLLYWOOD LINGERS : Vancouver in British Columbia came alive in front of my eyes on April 4,5 and 6 of the year 2013. A crowd that was so overwhelming as they sat in the BC Place complex (the same stadium where Winter Olympics was organised back in 2000). As Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan, Chitrangda, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and others made their way on the red carpet and fans went into a frenzy, the energy of TOIFA was to be seen to be believed. I loved every bit of my time there and just so love the warmth of Canadians , who respect Indians from their heart. Here's the link to Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) in its maiden showcase in Vancouver, 2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhmlVmcRYtE NIMI SAYS : What do you think...

Red Hot on Valentine's Day - Who rocks it?

Image
Bollywood hot steppers Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu look drop dead gorgeous in RED - The colour of love. But who rocks it the most... NIMI SAYS: Kareena Kapoor's post marriage look is striking. She wears red lipstick, red sindoor and also a red Manish malhotra chiffon saree with great elan. 9/10 to Bebo . Katrina Kaif tries to hoodwink red with shades of pink. Perhaps to add a youthful glow that she already boasts of, rather naturally. But red tires her, so it seems. 7/10 to Kat. Deepika Padukone often takes a hint of red in her drapes to her accessories and definitely on to her lips . I quite like it on her. But it adds age to this youngista. A li'l darma to the big eyes will really glam it up. 8/10 to dimply Deeps. Priyanka Chopra looks exceptional in nude, silver and black hues. Red is too bold for her petite body type. She is the cutie Desi Girl , nevertheless. 7/10 to Priyanka. Bipash...

Shah Rukh Khan's words on Being a Khan - Dil Se!

Image
Download the original attachment Outlook Turning Points 2013 [Published By The New York Times] On the misconstrued inference, SRK let out an impactful, touching statement on Being a Khan!   According to me, all our lives we are defined by three identities. Two of which are fortunately acquired by birth and are a matter of unconditional love and acceptance. The first identity is acquired by where one is born. Our Motherland. That defines us. So foremost all of us here like me are proud Indians. Second the family name and upbringing that our parents give us. Mine is Khan, like some of us here. I am very proud of my parents, like all of us are here. I love them unconditionally. The third is the profession we choose that defines us. By some quirk of fate I am a celebrity… a public figure in the fields of art and media. Like most of us are here today. As I said being an Indian and my parents’ child is an unconditional accepted truth of my li...

Playboy launches exotic India Bunny

Image
For all my male friends who have been lusting about Playboy India bunnies, this post is dedicated to you all. Think Playboy , and the first thought would be about wild, raunchy, alcohol-laced parties with pretty women and desirous men. Right? Well, wrong. The brand Playboy is a big player in the entertainment and hospitality industry. And not the magazine, but the apparel and fashion brand has forayed into the India market. My excited friend says, "Not the magazine? What a bumme r." INDIA-INSPIRED BUNNY : It was tough for Playboy Bunny to look sensuous and yet not get too provocative for the Indian market. So, Andhraiite designer Mohini Tadikonda based in New York used her design sensibilities and ushered a clearly great Indian saree-inspired bunny outfit . Lo! The Indian bunny is exotic and yet not raunchy. Kudos to Mohini! PLAYBOY APPAREL : Dressed to the T, Mathrew Nordy (standing in the middle in pic below) is the Executive VP and Chief Revenue Officer of ...
