Tamachey: Love-Mush-Con-Fun-Satire quickie. New-age QSQT **** (film review)
Tamanchey - Pyar Mil De Dil Pe Mar De Goli
Director: Navneet Bahl. Producer: Suryaveer Singh Bhullar.
Stars: Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chadda
Twist: Tamanchey film is a musically-gifted, funny take on India's young con men and women and their desire for real love. Nikhil Dwivedi as Munna and Richa Chadda as Babu are characters that make their way into the audiences hearts steadily with their rustic and raw appeal. Munna's UP accent is truly funny and so is his shy innocence when he spots Richa as a co-convict on-the-run from police men. Richa's Delhi girl doing 'business' role is impressive with her effortless style of 'I want it my way' attitude.
Satire: How police encounters get staged and surrenders aren't usually a way to freedom is what Tamanchey portrays in a love-mush-con-fun-satire quickie style of script.
Plot unfurls: The movie picks up pace right from the first few shots and gets you wondering where the two lovable convicts would run and hide. Falling in love is another mistake they make and pay heavily for. The ending is a reminder of circa 1988 Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak hit film starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla.
Characters stay with you: Yes, as different as chalk and cheese, Munna and Babu grow on you just the way the amazing sound tracks do. The characters stay with you much beyond the film's ending. Worth a watch and full paisa-vasool because Richa's hot and Nikhil's a cracker. It's fun!
Girl with the blue scarf says: Fill you weekend with some edgy rawness, watch Tamanchey and come back humming Pyaar Mil De Pe Maar De Goli.
